🎇 Irvington’s Fourth of July Weekend: Small-Town Charm, Big-Time Spirit

If you’ve ever spent the Fourth of July in Irvington, you already know—this little town throws a celebration that feels like something out of a storybook. And this year, we’re getting a little extra love: Southern Living just featured Irvington as one of the South’s most memorable small-town Independence Day parades!

So whether you're a local, a weekender, or hosting guests, here’s your guide to all the events happening this holiday weekend.

Thursday, July 4 – Parade & Fireworks

Irvington 4th of July Parade – 11:00 AM on King Carter Drive

It’s the most charming celebration in town! The parade kicks off Friday, July 4 at 11 AM, heading right down King Carter Drive through the center of Irvington. Locals line the street early, and homes along the route often host festive watch parties.

Want to be in the parade?
Bring your golf cart, bicycle, vintage car, or float—and show your patriotic spirit!

Fireworks Along the Shore – Around Dusk

As night falls, the rivers light up. You’ll see fireworks from nearly every direction:

  • Carter’s Creek
  • Tabb’s Creek
  • Urbanna
  • Deltaville
  • Reedville

Find a spot along the water—or enjoy it from your dock or boat. It’s one of the most magical nights of the year.

🛍️ Saturday, July 5 – Farmers Market, Boats, and Music

Irvington Farmers Market – 9 AM to 1 PM (Town Commons)

Voted one of the best in the region, the Irvington Farmers Market is a summer staple. Come shop for:

  • Fresh fruits and vegetables
  • Local seafood
  • Handmade crafts and gifts
  • Live music and community fun

Pro tip: You’ll find me at the coffee-shop food truck (in the corner by the tennis courts), recovering after a Blue Honey Pilates class. Come say hi!

RRYC Annual Boat Parade – 3 PM (Carter’s Creek)

Boats big and small take to the water in full patriotic flair. Whether you’re watching from the dock or floating nearby, the Rappahannock River Yacht Club’s annual boat parade is a sight to see.

U.S. Air Force Band Concert – 6 PM (Town Commons)

Cap off the weekend with live music under the summer sky. The U.S. Air Force Band brings its full patriotic setlist—perfect for all ages. Bring a chair, a blanket, and your favorite picnic basket—many families enjoy dinner on the lawn while the music plays. It’s one more way Irvington makes the 4th feel like home.

❤️ Why This Weekend Matters

This isn’t just a celebration—it’s a homecoming. It’s neighbors on porches, kids waving flags, and families sharing watermelon on the lawn. Events like these remind us why we live here—and why others dream of joining us.

If you’re thinking about a move, hosting family who might fall in love with our town, or just soaking it all in, know this: Irvington isn’t just where we live—it’s where we belong.
